Origamiception: Experiment 101

“The thing with your heart’s desire is that your heart doesn’t even know what it desires until it turns up. Like a tie at a tag sale, some perfect thing in a crate of nothing, you were just there, uninvited, and now suddenly the party was over and you were all I wanted, the best gift. I hadn’t even been looking, not for you, and now you were my heart’s desire.” —Min Green in Why We Broke Up by Daniel Handler
A Day with Lapu-Lapu

It was supposed to be just a ‘party’ for Bau at my house. But we were adventurous kiddos so we decided to go somewhere. We thought of going to Luneta a.k.a. Rizal Park since we don’t really have any money and Domba’s workshop is there (we wanted to visit our ‘actress’ friend). So we rode the LRT (my favorite form of transportation in the whole wide world, lol) to reach our destination~ We got off the wrong station so we still had to walk a few miles to reach the park. When we were about to cross a street, we saw the presidential car (yes, with the president inside!) We were really starstruck when the car passed by.

Finally we reached Luneta! We took pictures here and there feeling like tourists, haha! We even have a paid-picture with Lapu-Lapu but the pictures are not with me, still waiting for Bau to scan them.

Tree shots! I got bit by an ant though,it was really really really painful huhu.

Then we met Domba near the fountain and while walking something caught my eye. There was a nearby “Chinese Garden”. Imagine the smile on my face! I begged them to visit the place with me. Excuse my face in the picture below, I was just so happy! I am in love with our Asian poses…

We took a lot of pictures inside the garden (Yaay for Chinese vibes)

There was even a beautiful monument of Confucius inside!

Don’t get me wrong, I respect Confucius, I really do. We weren’t making fun of him when we took these pictures.

My fusion picture with Cloe! (one of my favorites)

That’s about it. We had to go home because Domba’s driver was waiting for us and it would be disrespectful if we stay too long. We rode her school bus so it was kind of a fieldtrip style outing. A very tiring (just look at our pictures below) but fulfilling fieldtrip!

It was such a nice experience, something different from the stereotype hangout places like malls and etc. I guess I never really appreciated my homeland that much before. But this experience definitely changed my views. The Philippines is a very beautiful country. Just like what Confucius said:

“Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.”

I just hope that everyone would be able to see and appreciate the beauty of my country.
